The Port of South Louisiana
About the Port
Stretching along the Mississippi River for some 50+ miles, the Port of South Louisiana is one of America’s largest tonnage ports. The port serves as a hub for grain, corn, and soy exports. About 60% of all US grain is exported through the port. In addition to food goods, companies like Shell and Valero planted themselves here. Some 43% of all petroleum and crude oil is imported through the port. In total, some 248 million tons of cargo is handled annually.
